World Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop

I am so excited I was asked to be a part of today’s Blog Hop for so many reasons! I get to use my creative avenue to help raise awareness for Autism; I get to participate in the blog hop with lots of awesome Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world and I’ve learnt a few things along the way as well! I feel so fortunate to be able to participate today to support this cause. I used to manage a paediatric Speech Pathology & Psychology practice and many of our clients had autism and the best part of my job was seeing these children thrive, grow and learn and I miss that now that I’ve moved on to another job.

Obviously the theme for today’s blog hop is Autism and we were encouraged to create projects that incorporated the following that are associated with autism; the colour blue, a puzzle piece or a lightbulb. As soon as I saw lightbulb, I knew what stamp set I would use for my project; Watts of Occasions.

I love using stamps to create simple background images for cards and I love how the lightbulbs turned out for my project today! I haven’t used this stamp set enough but now that I’ve designed this card, I might get a production line happening with all the different bulbs!

I chose to watercolour a “blue” lightbulb and dimensional it up on my card base to add another element of Autism to my card. I thought the sentiment from the Watts of Occasion “You Light Up My Life” was perfect for the theme of today as there were so many children who crossed my paths at my old job who really did light up my life.

Thanks for taking time out of your day (or night, depending where you live!) to stop by and check out my blog post. Click the next button below and you can hop you way through loads of projects today to gain inspiration and ideas for your own crafting as well as support World Autism Awareness Day. There is also a full list of blog participants below if you’d like to jump straight to someone directly.

A special mention to Jenny Hall who was the brains behind this blog hop! She has done an amazing job coordinating all the demonstrators, creating the graphics and making sure everything ran smoothly.

Keep on hopping (suitable after Easter weekend too!) and Happy Crafting.

What Will You Stamp? #161 Bird Banter

The Design Team and I are back today and we’ve had some fun with the cute #birdbanter stamp set for #wwys161. I hadn’t had a chance to use this set yet but I had seen loads of projects with it, so I was excited to get it a go!

I had made a simple three colour card today but I got to use my STAMPARATUS!!! Yes, I finally cracked it out of the box (it has been neglected for about 2 months now!) and I have to say it was once of the easiest stamp placement tools I have ever used. I LOVED that you can move the plates around without having to move the stamp. Don’t know what a Stamparatus is? Check it out here.

I used the Stamparatus, to place my little birds, one on top of the other for my card. It was so quick and easy! I even remembered to stamp one on the inside of my card!

I used the new Stampin’ Blends to colour my birdies in; a little bit of Pool Party for the head & body and a cute daffodil delight beak! The Stampin’ Blends have been SO popular they are no unable to be ordered as we (yes, you too!) have depleted the stock levels! At this stage, to keep my with demand, the Blendswill be back in stock around May 2018.

I love that this card is a great one for my “male” stash. I always seem to never have those on hand when I need them!

Hopefully you’ve got this stamp set in your collection and can join us this week for our #wwys161 challenge! Create your card and upload it to the WWYS blog. We love seeing what you create.

What Will You Stamp? #159 – You Deserve This

Welcome back to this week’s What Will You Stamp? challenge. This week we’re challenging you to use the “You Deserve This” stamp set for #wwys159. This is such a fun stamp set to use to congratulate or encourage your friends and family. The cute little pattern stamps also make for a great background stamp!

I contemplated cutting up the larger stamp (with 5 images; just for you, you deserve this, hooray, thumbs way up and woo hoo) but I chickened out! lol. So instead created my card with the large stamp as the centre piece.

I love to congratulate my INKy team members but always find I never have a card on hand to quickly pop in the post. So today, I used the same design and made a very different coloured versions of the card so I can have these on hand when I need them. I decided that the gorgeous Foil Frenzy Designer Series Paper (DSP) was the perfect choice to celebrate an achievement, so chose to use it in Berry Burst, Tangerine Tango and my favourite, Lemon Lime Twist for my cards. I don’t use DSP anywhere near as much as I should so that was the challenge I gave myself today.

I love how they are all just a little different depending where the stamp was positioned. I think I love it in Lemon Lime Twist the best? What about you? Let me know in the comments which one is your favourite!

Thanks for stopping by today to see my cards. Pop on over to the challenge blog to see what others have made and if you’ve got this stamp set in your collection, it would be great for you to come and join us over at What Will You Stamp? and play along with this week’s challenge.

What Will You Stamp? #156 – Magical Day

I’m so excited to be back this week for #wwys156 as we are using one of my favourite stamp sets out of the new Occasions Catalogue – Magical Day! I think I screamed out loud when I saw this product suite back in November at our On Stage event.

Even though I love this suite so so so much, I hadn’t actually used it until this week’s challenge came along! Thankfully I had a team craft day on Saturday to help me get the mojo going and give me some valuable craft time.

I chose to feature the gorgeous, fun spirited unicorn from the suite for my card today. I decided to keep my card in one colour scheme for some reason…. not sure why, but I love how it turned out.

I coloured my unicorn in using the light & dark Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I added a little bit of wink of stella to her mane and tail to give her some “pizzaz”.

I combined her with the clouds and rainbows from the new Rainbow Builder framelits. These are just so cool!!! Luckily, there was the super cute cloud designer series paper in the Myths & Magic suite to match!

I haven’t placed a sentiment on my card yet… as I don’t know what I want to use it for!!!

The Magical Day stamp set has been hugely popular (actually more than I imagined)… so if you don’t have it, you should really get it! And if you have it already.. get creating and join in our #wwys156 challenge this week! I’d love to see what you create. I try and pop by on a Sunday night (EST) and check out all the challenge entries and make a comment… so if you create, I’ll comment.

What Will You Stamp? #155 – Picture Perfect Birthday

WOAH! I just realised that it has been a little while since I played along with my design team buddies at What Will You Stamp but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to use the new Picture Perfect stamp set for #wwys155. I’m just not sure where the time is going and how we are in mid February already!

I had a lot of fun making the card for today’s challenge for a few reasons. Not only do I love the effect of the white heat embossing on the black cardstock, I do love how quick it was for such an awesome result! Plus, it has a great range of sentiments and greetings for your birthday cards and the font is pretty cool too!

To fill some space between the greetings and to break up the words, I used the striped and the spotted “candle stalks”. I did manage to squish a flame onto the spotted one.

To create the effect so that I could stamp the sentiments in one go, I used the clear (E) block and arranged the photopolymer stamps on it. I managed to fit 8 of the stamps on it. I stamped the grouped images twice on my card using Versamark ink and then covered in white embossing powder.

I’m definitely going to make more of these… and speaking of that, if you have this stamp set in your collection, I would love you to play along with this week’s challenge over at What Will You Stamp? Would love to see what you create!

Just Add Ink #393 – Colour Challenge

To keep my mojo flowing… or starting to flow, I played along with the colour challenge over at Just Add Ink for #jai393. I was so pleased to have the time to create as one of my downlines, Rochelle was the DT member who chose the colours for this week’s challenge.

Green is one of my favourite colours however I find Tranquil Tide a little tricky to work with whereas I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lemon Lime Twist.

I’m a little behind in January Birthday cards, so I thought this challenge was a good one to use the super cute Quirky Critters stamp set again. The sloth stamp is perfect for those times you’ve forgot to send a card! I needed to create a “leafy” scene for my sloth, so I used the fern leaf from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set, stamped in Tranquil Tide & Lemon Lime Twist.

I used the new Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to colour in Mr. Sloth. I used the light & dark crumb cake and then smoky slate for his eye area. I snuck the bronze marker in to colour the branch. These markers are so easy to use! The branch in the stamp set is a little shorter, so I lengthened to reach within the leaves by drawing an “extension” with a black fine point marker. EASY!

If you’ve got time, head on over to Just Add Ink and see what their design team created to inspire us this challenge. Challenges are a great way to create when you’ve got a creative block, need a new inspiration or idea… or just for fun!

Have a wonderful, creative week.

Global Design Project 122 – Sketch Challenge

Yes! It has been a while since I’ve posted. I had a nice break over the summer with my family and planned to get back to blogging earlier in the month, however a mini trip to hospital put a spanner in the works! I’m all good now and time to get blogging!

To get the mojo going, I played along with some challenges this past weekend. My first is the sketch challenge for the Global Design Project #gdp122. I love a sketch challenge as you can interpret it any way you like; left, right, round and upside down. lol!

I wanted to have a play with the new shimmery white embossing paste and I used that on the background of this card. I coloured it with a smoky slate re-inker to give it a grey / realistic brick look.

The shimmery white embossing paste is AWESOME! I can’t wait to try it out with loads of other colours. It is a lot more “shimmery” than I anticipated, which I love!!!

This card was a celebratory card for a team member of mine who recently promoted. She’s done a great, persistent job to achieve this milestone. I’m so proud of her and I hope she likes her card!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Don’t forget to pop on over to the Global Design Project page and check out all the other awesome entries for this week’s challenge. I love seeing the diversity of how everyone interprets the same sketch.

Hopefully this post is the start of some regular blogging and challenge fun!
