What Will You Stamp? #117 – Beetles & Bugs

We’ve had a “bugging” good time this week for the What Will You Stamp? challenge (#wwys117) using the Beetles & Bugs stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

I myself have been under the weather with a “bug” (otherwise known as sinus, ear and chest infection!) so Mr. INK and I thought this was a good stamp set for me to be creating with this week. As I’ve been unwell, I haven’t been able to sit at my craft desk to create, so today I have some simple (yet cute!) cards for you using this set and some “bug puns”. Do you know how hard it is to create or find bug puns? I’ll tell you… HARD! I created my “puns” using the Labeler Alphabet and the Brushwork Alphabet stamp sets. I love the ‘look’ of the labeler set; and the fact you have 2 fonts in one set is a bonus!

I love little cards like my project today because you can make whatever size you like! All you need to do is ensure the length of the card is double the width… that way you’ll get a perfectly square card.

The card sizes I created were:

  • “I heard your caught a bug” card – 4″ x 8″ (scored at 3.5″)
  • “Love Bug” and “Bugs & Kisses” cards – 3″ x 6″ (scored at 3″)
  • “Sorry to bug you” card – 3.5″ x 7″ (scored at 3.5″)

Only a quick post from me today but don’t forget to check out all the What Will You Stamp? Design Team Beetle and Bug creations over on the WWYS? blog. There are lots of creepy crawlies waiting for you!

What Will You Stamp? #115 – Beautiful You

Hi There! This week over at What Will You Stamp?, we’ve been challenged to use the very popular the “Beautiful You” stamp set. If you’re a Stampin’ Up! fan, I have no doubt you have seen many creations made with this stamp set throughout your googling or Pinterest looking ventures. There have been so many wonderful creations with the stamp set, I didn’t quite know where to start or what to create.

For some reason, the lady with the umbrella was the stamp in the set that caught my attention. Initially she made me feel like she was “sad” however, I also wanted to show how versatile stamps could be and used her to create a card and “shower her in love” (you’ll see what I mean shortly!).

I created 3 cards for today’s challenge to show you different ways you can use the same stamp. The cards have the same layouts, I’ve just created them in different colours and with different accompanying stamps to create a different tone or theme to the cards.

I love the simplicity of these cards. I did try colouring the lady in, but I found I much preferred her in plain black with the colour focus being on the theme of the card.

A quick post from me today for #wwys115; if you own the Beautiful You stamp set, why don’t you stop by the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created and participate in this week’s challenge yourself. We love to be inspired by you and your creations.

Thanks for stopping by today… I hope you like the cards I’ve created today… would love to hear if the rain, sunshine or heart one is your favourite.

Happy Crafting,

What Will You Stamp? #113 – Fairy Celebration (#wwys113)

Welcome to this week’s post for the What Will You Stamp? #113 (#wwys113) – Fairy Celebration. This set is just devine and makes me believe in all magical creatures and wishes!

I don’t own the Fairy Celebration stamp set, but a very kind team member of mine lent hers to me so I could participate today, and now I’m addicted to it! It is just so sweet. My favourite stamp is the fairy with her back facing you with her gorgeous wings. So pretty!

From the very beginning when I saw we were creating with this stamp set, I knew I wanted to do something 3D or “off the page”… I didn’t want to create a standard card. I’ve got lots of “bits and bobs” in my craft cupboard that need using and thankfully I was able to use one for today’s project.

Frames are a great addition to your craft collection as you can use them for so many different projects. I love that you can personalise a frame to make it an extra special gift. Today’s project isn’t personalised (yet!) but I love the simplicity of this project.

This project didn’t take very long to create at all! I stamped the images on to the Shimmery White Cardstock using Basic Black Archival Ink and then coloured it in using an Aqua Painter and the fantastic Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils. I’m no expert at colouring, however I find these pencils SO easy to use to get shading and dimension on your projects. The sentiment in the frame says “May your wisish come true”. I had some trouble photographing the frame as I kept getting my reflection in the glass which I’m sure you don’t want to see!

I love my presents and cards to match, so I whipped up a tiny little card that could be use as a gift tag or gift card for when my frame finds a new home. I used a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock (5″ long x 2.5″ wide), and scored it in half and there was my card base.

In the spirit of the fairies today, if you have this stamp set in your collection, I’m going to make a “wish” for you to go and create a project for this week’s challenge and pop it up over on the What Will You Stamp? challenge blog. If you’d like some inspiration for your project, be sure to check out all the design team’s creations on the blog.

What Will You Stamp #111 – Weather Together

I feel it is very appropriate to write today’s blog post using the Weather Together stamp set for the What Will You Stamp #111 Challenge. Currently in Melbourne, it is pouring with rain as we inch closer to winter from the gorgeous Autumn we have been having. You wouldn’t venture outside today without an umbrella!

For today’s challenge, I have steered away from the “traditional card” and created some pocket cards instead! They are super easy to create and very cute at the same time. I’ve used the smaller decorative stamps and the sentiments from the stamp set to decorate my pockets. I couldn’t quite get the umbrellas to do what I wanted them to do for my project so I changed course! The great thing about pocket cards, is that are relatively quick to make and can be used as a gift tag as well.

I chose to use Crumb Cake as my main colour as it is neutral and it goes with anything! I added the gold to the birthday pocket for some bling whereas I didn’t include any bling on the cloud pocket as I felt the “tone” of the card needed more simplicity. The cloud one just happens to be my favourite!

To create your own pocket cards at home:

  • Cut a piece of cardstock 8cm x 22cm, scored at 9cm on the long side (pocket)
  • Cut a piece of white cardstock 10.5cm x 6cm (insert)
  • Fold your pocket on the score line and using some double sided adhesive (as thin as you can get), adhere the flap to the base to make the pocket. Note: you don’t want to use wide adhesive as your insert won’t fit or it will get stuck on the inside.
  • Round the corners of the top of the pocket (if you wish). I used my Envelope Punch Board to do this.
  • Decorate as you wish!

I hope you enjoyed my project today and decide to give it a go yourself. It is a great alternative to a normal card and perfect for those occasions when you have limited time to create!

Don’t forge tot pop by the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog and check out all the other team member’s creations. We’re so lucky to have such a wonderfully talented group of women to create and inspire us each week! If you’ve got the Weather Together stamp set at home, why don’t you come and join in the fun and create a project for this week’s challenge. We’d love to see what you create.

What Will You Stamp? #109 – Balloon Adventures

Hello! Hi There! Bonjour!

Welcome back to What Will You Stamp? for this week. This week we’re having some adventures with one of my favourite things… Balloons!!! Yes, that’s right, we’re focusing on the Stampin’ Up! stamp set Balloon Adventures for WWYS#109.

The more time I spend creating for the Design Team, the more I’m finding out that I love interactive cards and today’s card is no exception! I think it might be my inner child that loves how an interactive card can but a smile on the recipient’s face.

As I said above, I love balloons, particularly polka dot and striped ones and they happen to feature in today’s card!

What? There aren’t any balloons on my card… I know! But you know how I told you my card was interactive… open it up and POP! There they are!

Apologies for my hand being in the photo! Baby INK was having a field day trying to eat my card and envelope so I needed quick access to move them when he was about to strike! LOL!

The balloons in the card go perfectly with the Party Animal suite which is fun, bright coloured birthday Designer Series Paper available in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue. The Emerald Envy, Pacific Point and Crushed Curry colours are a great combination for a card for that special male in your life, big or small!

Thanks for stopping by again. I hope you’re enjoying my DT projects as much as I’m enjoying making them! They’re certainly keeping me on my toes and making me think outside the square when it comes to my projects.

Remember, if you’ve got the Balloon Adventures stamp set in your collection, come an play along with this week’s challenge! To keep up to date with our weekly challenges, be sure to “like” the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog Facebook page. Over at WWYS, we’d love to see what you create.

What Will You Stamp? #108 – Dragonfly Dreams

Welcome back to another What Will You Stamp? challenge for #wwys108 – Dragonfly Dreams.

This week our focus is on this gorgeous stamp set:

This is not my “normal” style of stamp set so I was a bit nervous creating this week however, I am loving being on the WWYS Design Team as it is challenging me to use stamps sets I never would have used and think outside the box for my cards & projects. I’ve got a little obsession lately with very delicate and “pretty” cards where as I’m normal bright and funky and today’s card is no exception.

I was instantly drawn to the dots/ spots in this stamp set which you wouldn’t identify as the main draw card or image for the stamp set…. but I knew I wanted to use it on my card. I didn’t have a specific colour in mind, so I literally just found what was lying pre-cut on my desk and Blushing Bride it happened to be!

As I said… it is a little “pretty” and “delicate”. I heat embossed the spots on the sides of the card using white embossing powder. I love the crispness that heat embossing gives to the chosen colour. However, my favourite part of this card is yet to come!

Can you see it? Can you see it? Can you see the 2-tone stamping? Oh my, I love it! I stamped the sentiment in Blushing Bride ink and then over the top, slightly off centre, I stamped it again in Basic Black and as such it now as a “pink shadow”. I can see myself using much more of this technique in future projects. Add a little bit of bling in the way of sequins and glimmer paper, a button and my card is complete!

You can’t see it in the photo, but I added a clear circle of clear acetate (window sheet) behind the doily to give it some strength to hold the weight of the banners, sequins and button.

I know there is no “dragonfly” on my project today, but I hope I’ve inspired you to think outside the square when you see a stamp set and think that there could just be a use for every single stamp in the set. But most of all… I hope I’ve inspired you to come and join in the fun this week over at What Will You Stamp? Would absolutely love it if you came and joined in our challenge using the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.

Happy Crafting,

What Will You Stamp? #106 – Delicate Details

Hello! Welcome to my first official post as a Design Team member over at What Will You Stamp? I’m super excited to be a part of the team and look forward to sharing my creations with you for the WWYS challenges.

This week’s challenge over at What Will You Stamp? is using the Delicate Details stamp set (#WWYS106) that you can earn for FREE during Sale-a-bration, which ends on the 31st March 2017.

I’ve seen lots of creations using this stamp set since it was released and I initially set out to do something bright and colourful but as you’ll see, my card didn’t end up that way at all. It amazes my how the creative process works and sometimes what you create is so far from what you thought you were going to create.

My card today features the Delicate Details stamp set combined with the gorgeous Brushwork Alphabet stamp set. It is a stunning font to use on your projects! As you can see, my card is far from bright and colourful. HA!

The colours I used in my card today are Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Gold, lots and lots of gold!!! I heat embossed the lace border and the sentiment using gold embossing powder. Gold embossing powder is just stunning. I added a few gold sequins from the sequin trim roll to fill in some of the white space and add some extra texture and dimension to the card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today. Don’t forget to pop on over to the What Will You Stamp? Blog and check out the other creations for this challenge… and if you’ve got the Delicate Details stamp set, why don’t you join in our challenge? Would love to see what you create!
