I’m SO excited to share with you today’s cards! The April Technique class was all about ‘Poppin’ – cards that pop! And today’s card was definitely the show stopper. Whilst it took a little while to complete in class with the 11 attendees, it was certainly worth the time and effort.
I’ve got two versions of this Poppin’ Box Card; an ice-cream version using the Stampin’ Up! Cool Treats suite and then a manly beer version using the Stampin’ Up! Mixed Drinks stamp set.
This was the version of the card that we made in class. 11 wonderful ladies put their skills to the test to create this fun and “cool” interactive birthday card. How fruity and delicious are the colours used in the stamping and the designer series paper on the box. They are Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder, Pear Pizzaz, Peekaboo Peach and Early Espresso. Even their names are tasty treats!
You’re probably wondering where the “box” in photo 2 came from… well this is where we “POP”! Watch the short video below to see how much fun this poppin’ card is for the recipient to receive!
Thats’s right… it pops right on up and out of the tray!!!
As I mentioned above, I’d made 2 versions of this card.. unfortunately, I don’t have a poppin’ video for this card, but it pops exactly as the one above does, the design and stamps are just different. I actually think this one is my favourite and is an awesome masculine card. So much so that… I never give my husband’s best mate a card for his birthday… however this year it was a “big” birthday for him, so I wanted to knock his socks off and I knew he would love the extra surprise that a poppin’ box card brings.
These popping box cards are so much to make! Don’t be daunted by them. Once you get your score lines and folds in the right spot, assembly of the box itself is pretty easy, as are the tray and the wrap. The awesome Gemma over at Made by Gemma has some great YouTube clips (Part 1) (Part 2) to step you through how to make the box and tray/ wrap as well as some templates that you can download and print to ensure all your lines are in the right spot!
I hope you give this fun card a go. If you do create one and get stuck at any time, you are more than welcome to contact me. I’d love to hear/ see that you are being inspired and taking some time out for yourself to create.
