This Little Piggy #2

Ha! I told you I was obsessed with this stamp set and he would appear again… this time we’re talking about “when pigs fly”! Well, I’m  here to prove to you that pigs can fly as you’ll see on my card today! Not only is the stamp set This Little Piggy being featured again, I’ve used the awesome new embossing paste on my card too!

You’ll notice that the clouds look like they have some “dimension” to them; they also have some texture with the new embossing paste. For my card, I have coloured the paste using a Soft Sky re-inker to give it a pale blue colour. Check out the video below to see the embossing paste in action.

Here is a closer look at the clouds & piggy…

You’ll see that my clouds have some “lines” through them – I wasn’t too bothered by this as I felt it gave the clouds more dimension however, it was purely by accident though! It was me not paying attention and scraping the paste evenly. The more I’ve played with the paste, the less I’m getting lines.

Similarly to the first This Little Piggy blog post, I’ve stamped the flying pig on shimmery white cardstock with black archival ink and then coloured it in using an aqua painter and the new Powder Pink ink for his body and head and then Soft Sky ink for his body.

The gorgeous sentiment is from the new hostess stamp set Dare to Dream which has various words that you can mix and match to make the perfect greeting for any card.

I really hope you add the embossing paste to your next Stampin’ Up! order… it is a great addition to any card and there are fantastic accessories (palette knives and decorative masks) for you to create simple and effective cards quickly.

This Little Piggy….

This Little Piggy went….. to market! That’s what the stamp I’ve used on today’s card makes me think of. Makes me think that this cute little piggy is taking a wander in the sunshine down to the local market. Strange I know!

If you recall my Top 5 new product blog post a little while ago, you’ll know that the This Little Piggy stamp set certainly made it in there. If you missed the post, you can check it out here. I’ve had a blast playing with it since I received it and can’t wait to play with it some more.

Whilst the piggy is cute and the focus of today’s card, I want you to focus on the background. I just love it! and no… it’s not a piece of Designer Series Paper… it’s a design I created myself using glossy cardstock and stampin’ ink pads! Yep, that’s it! So simple yet so effective.

The background is called “faux woodgrain” and I’ve created it using Crumb Cake and Soft Suede ink pads. I just couldn’t get over how easy the technique was and how different the background can be, each time you do it! I’ll definitely be using this technique again! You can create this easily at home by following a tutorial from Carolyn Bennie.

Powder Pink is a new 2017 – 2019 in-colour and is the perfect “pig” colour. I’ve used an aqua painter to colour in the image for my card and using a little bit of the new Tranquil Tide in-colour for the grass and stem of the flower, again using an aqua painter. I never used to be much of a “colourer” but I think these little piggies might just convince me otherwise!

Happy Crafting,

P.S. I added the flower form the new Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. I stamped it in the gorgeous new Berry Burst ink and popped it up on a new mini stampin’ dimesional (these are amazing!) to make it pop off the card.
